Timothy B. Schmit To Release Fifth Solo Album

Timothy B. SchmitTimothy B. Schmit, who played bass and sang on one of the Eagles’ best-loved songs, “I Can’t Tell You Why,” is now performing at a few venues nationwide to promote a new CD. Expando, his fifth solo project, is due to be released on October 20.

Schmit, 61, who by all reports can still hit the high notes, alternated between bass and acoustic rhythm guitar during a recent performance in Los Angeles. Schmit, performing tonight, October 16, in Nashville, will be in Chicago October 18 and New York October 21. During his shows, Schmit is also performing songs from his past, including “I Can’t Tell You Why” and Poco’s “Keep on Tryin’.” Schmit was in the band Poco before joining the Eagles. Expando features performances by Keb’ Mo’, Graham Nash, Kid Rock, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Garth Hudson, and Schmit’s son, Ben.

“I Can’t Tell You Why” remains Schmit’s most popular song. A smooth jazz staple, it’s also been covered by performers such as Kenny G, Larry Carlton and Vince Gill.
