Sting, With A New Holiday Release, Performing On Letterman Tonight
Songwriter, vocalist and bassist Sting this week released If On a Winter’s Night, a holiday CD inspired by his favorite time of year and featuring two original compositions as well as traditional songs, carols and lullabies from the British Isles. The album features smooth jazz trumpeter Chris Botti.
Tracks include “Gabriel’s Message,” “The Snow It Melts the Soonest,” “Christmas at Sea,” “Now Winter Comes Slowly” and “You Only Cross My Mind in Winter.” Sting will perform selections for the CD December 8 and December 9 at St. John the Divine Cathedral in New York. Tickets go on sale November 2.
The CD is Sting’s first since his reunion with the Police, and his follow-up to Songs From the Labyrinth, which featured compositions from John Dowland, a 16th- and 17th-century Elizabethan lute player.
Sting will be featured as the musical guest tonight, October 28, on Late Night With David Letterman. He will also appear Thursday, October 29, on The View.
