Toby Keith Video With Wayman Tisdale Debuts Today On CMT Website
For his new album, American Ride, country music singer Toby Keith wrote a song for his dear friend, the late smooth jazz bassist Wayman Tisdale. The video of that song, “Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song),” today, November 2, makes its debut on Country Music Television’s website. The song, which makes it debut on the TV channel tomorrow, November 3, features a guest appearance by smooth jazz saxophonist Dave Koz.
Tisdale and Keith, both Oklahomans, had been friends for a long time. On Tisdale’s final album, last year’s Rebound, the bassist recruited Keith to sing on a cover of Barry White’s “Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up.” At Tisdale’s public memorial service in May, Keith says he wanted to perform “Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song),” but admitted he was too emotional about the loss of his friend to complete the tune. Instead, he dedicated to Tisdale an acoustic version of Willie Nelson’s “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground.”
