Guitarist Steve Oliver Will Offer Global Kiss In 2010

Steve OliverSmooth jazz guitarist and vocalist Steve Oliver is in the recording studio this week working on a new CD that he’s titled Global Kiss. It will be the seventh solo CD of his career and the first regular studio project since 2006’s Radiant. He released One Night Live in 2008 and the holiday CD Snowfall in late 2006.

Oliver told the Smooth Jazz Network that Global Kiss is scheduled to have nine instrumental songs and four vocals. But the instrumentals may even have some vocals in them, as Oliver is known for his scatting and other varied sounds he can make with his voice. Oliver also uses a Carvin guitar he developed five years ago that can sound like other instruments – such as the piano and even a string section.

Oliver released his first solo album, First View, in 1999, with the hit “West End.” His second album, Positive Energy, featured the Top 5 smooth jazz hit “High Noon,” while 3D featured the hits “Chips and Salsa” and “Oh Yeah” and Radiant offered “Tradewinds.”
