Mariah Carey Reveals To CNN That She’s Been Abused

Mariah CareyGrammy-winning vocalist Mariah Carey has told Larry King on CNN that she relates to the pain singer Rihanna suffered with boyfriend Chris Brown because she has suffered abuse as well. When King asked if she’d been emotionally abused, Carey replied, “Emotionally, mentally.” Though Carey declined to talk about a specific incident and did not name her accused abuser, the New York Post hinted that it was her ex-husband Tommy Mottola, saying, “It was difficult because there was a connection that was not only a marriage but a business thing where the person was in control of my life.” Carey is now married to Nick Cannon.

Carey was on Larry King Live to promote her latest CD, Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, and her latest motion picture, Precious. The movie premiered over the weekend with an impressive $1.8 million in box office sales despite running in just 18 theaters throughout the United States. The movie stars Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe as Precious and also co-stars Paula Patton, wife of vocalist Robin Thicke.

Carey is scheduled to appear on Late Show With David Letterman this Friday, November 13.
