Grammy and Tony nominated singer and songwriter Brenda Russell is giving fans a “Christmas Card” this holiday season in the form of a free mp3 download of a new original composition and a digital greeting card.

The song, called “Christmas Card,” will be available as a free download on Brenda’s website beginning November 27, the first date of the Dave Koz and Friends: A Smooth Jazz Christmas tour featuring Brenda, Dave Koz, David Benoit, Rick Braun and Peter White. Those attending the shows will also have the chance to pick up a download card at venue merchandise tables that will provide a code to retrieve the song online.

For fans on Russell’s mailing list, “Christmas Card” will be delivered via email in the form of a digital greeting card from her that will include a link to download the song, which is her first new original recording since her 2003 album Between the Sun and the Moon.

The tune was co-written by Brenda and Doug Mallory, her former band mate in the popular Canadian collective Dr. Music. Brenda co-produced the recording with her long time collaborator Stephan Oberhoff, who also played piano on the track, which features Yellowjackets saxophonist Bob Mintzer.
