Wife Accepts Honor As Wayman Tisdale Inducted Into Oklahoma Hall Of Fame
On Thursday, November 12, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City added seven new members, including a posthumous honor for basketball star and smooth jazz bassist Wayman Tisdale. Tisdale died in May at age 44. The Hall of Fame rarely inducts members posthumously. The last one was Woody Guthrie in 2006 and before that, Wiley Post in 2004. Tisdale was a Tulsa native and became a star playing for the University of Oklahoma. He then had a 12-year career in the NBA before embarking on his smooth jazz career.
Tisdale’s widow, Regina, accepted the award for him
The honor is the second major one received posthumously by Tisdale. On October 21, the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame in Tulsa posthumously honored Tidale at its 21st annual Hall of Fame Induction Gala at the Jazz Depot. Tisdale was honored as the 2009 Jazz inductee.
The honors aren’t over for Tisdale yet. On November 22, Tisdale will be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame for his outstanding basketball career at the University of Oklahoma.
