Beyonce Wins Favorite Female Artist At American Music Awards

BeyonceBeyonce took home an award on Sunday (November 22) at the 37th annual American Music Awards, where she was named favorite female artist in the soul/R&B category. Janet Jackson began the show, and Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys also performed.

Taylor Swift was the big winner, winning five times, including for artist of the year. The late Michael Jackson earned four awards. Other multiple winners included Jay-Z and the Black Eyed Peas, with two each.

Fans voted online to choose the winners of the American Music Awards, which honor the year’s top-selling artists in eight popular genres. Sunday’s show drew 14.2 million viewers and a 5.5 preliminary rating for adults 18-49. That’s the largest overall audience for the show since 2002 and its biggest rating since 2004.
