Disney World Honors Saxophonist Jessy J With Two Awards

Jessy JSmooth jazz saxophonist Jessy J, whose “Tropical Rain” is the No. 1 song on the Smooth Jazz Top 20, has been recognized by the Walt Disney Company. She has been inducted into the Disney Magic Days Hall of Fame, which this year is celebrating its 25th anniversary at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Disney Magic Music Days is where bands, choirs, orchestras, dance troupes, and other performance groups from schools and community groups are welcome to audition to perform at the theme park.

Jessy was also selected as a Disney Rising Star performer. As part of the honor, Jessy will be performing at the inaugural Disney Jazz Celebration, where vocal and instrumental jazz ensembles will be immersed in a learning environment.

The event, to be held February 18-20, 2010, provides middle and high school instrumental and vocal jazz ensembles the opportunity to perform for nationally recognized jazz educators from across the country. The celebration will include world renowned jazz artists – such as Jessy J – master classes, jam sessions and concerts. It will also promote jazz education, talent interaction and will feature evening performances.

“During the course of the festival I’ll be interacting with thousands of young jazz musicians,” says Jessy. “And I can’t wait!”
