Norah Jones Has No. 3 CD Of Decade, Behind Beatles And ‘N Sync

Norah JonesNorah Jones had the No. 3 CD of the 2000s, according to Nielsen Soundcan in a report released today (December 8). Her Grammy Award-winning debut CD from 2002, Come Away With Me, sold 10.5 million copies in the decade. The Beatles’ hit compilation 1 sold 11.5 million copies, and ‘N Sync’s No Strings Attached was second with 11.1 million copies.

Jones, whose new CD The Fall features the Smooth Jazz Top 20 hit “Chasing Pirates,” recalls the buzz surrounding her debut album after it was released by Blue Note Records. “It has been surprising to me. Because I did expect to just have a little album, maybe a couple people would know me and then hopefully I’ll get better at making records and eventually someday, hopefully I would get some recognition. That was sort of my grand plan, but I was like, Oh no, everybody’s listening to my little record. And there are things I might have done differently had I known that, but maybe not, I don’t know.”

In other news, Jason Mraz had the decade’s third-most downloaded song of the decade as his “I’m Yours” sold 4.6 million. John Mayer’s 2006 CD Continuum was the No. 5 digital CD with sales of 428,000.

Rapper Eminem was the top-selling artist of the decade with 32.2 million in sales, followed by the Beatles with 30 million.
