This could quite possibly be the year of a new jazz order, if so, that order is being led by Alfonzo Blackwell. A musician who is taking the music he loves to a whole new level with an exciting and provocative approach.

Since hitting the charts with his latest and 7th album, Dance To This, Blackwell has been moving up in rankings. The critically acclaimed album presents a collection that is signature to his style and true to his already stellar catalogue.

Since his debut Blackwell has pursued a goal of bridging the gap between Contemporary Smooth Jazz and soulful R&B/Hip Hop Funk. At the rate he is going, there won’t be a gap for much longer.

Blackwell broke ground by ushering in a new music movement, Rhythm & Cool, with his debut album, Lets Imagine. The sound moved listeners to get out of their seats and dance.

“This is what music was meant to be - it feels good, and it’s good to feel it,” said Blackwell. “My message through my music is my voice, calling attention to all, and I want people to feel me and where I’m at in my music journey.”

“There’s no sleepy time at any of my performance shows,” added Blackwell. “I want everyone to get up on that floor and dance, like the late great James Brown declared.”

Blackwell is the founder and president/CEO of Utopia Records Inc. He is an accomplished songwriter, producer, composer, arranger, and he has not only mastered the saxophone, he is a skilled pianist, guitarist, bassist and drummer as well.
