Jamie Cullum Announces Tour To Support Latest CD
U.K. vocalist and pianist Jamie Cullum, who scored a smooth jazz single with “These Are The Days” several years ago, has lined up North American headlining dates in March to support his recent album, The Pursuit. The CD is his first new studio CD in four years and follows Catching Tales, twentysomething and Pointless Nostalgic.
Cullum begins his 14-city U.S. tour March 4 in New York, ending March 25 in Los Angeles.
On The Pursuit, Cullum worked with producer Greg Wells (Katy Perry/Colbie Caillat) in Los Angeles on the record, and selected the final track list from more than 30 songs he had originally recorded in his own London studio.
“I often have to answer that boring question: are you a jazz artist and is this a jazz record?” Cullum said in an interview with the UK’s Telegraph newspaper. “But I thought starting with ‘Just One of Those Things,’ a song that has a long, proper jazz piano solo, is a statement of intent in some ways: ‘Yeah, listen, I can play.’ ”
One song from the new CD, “Wheels,” will be a Feedback Track on the Smooth Jazz Top 20 the weekend of January 9.
