Billboard Names Norah Jones No. 1 Contemporary Jazz Artist Of 2000s
Norah Jones, whose new CD The Fall features the Smooth Jazz Top 20 hit “Chasing Pirates,” has been named the No. 1 contemporary jazz artist of the 2000s by Billboard. Jones is followed on the list, based on sales, by Kenny G, Boney James, Dave Koz and Herbie Hancock. Jones also had the No. 1 contemporary jazz CD of the decade, Come Away With Me, which was followed by six CDs by Kenny G, including Faith: A Holiday Album, Wishes, At Last … The Duets Album, and Paradise.
Jones also took the top two spots on Billboard’s jazz charts with Come Away With Me the top CD and Jones being named the No. 1 artist.
Michael Buble had the No. 1 traditional jazz CD of the decade with It’s Time. Diana Krall was named the No. 1 traditional jazz artist, followed by Buble, Harry Connick Jr., Chris Botti, Tony Bennett and Madeleine Peyroux.
On Billboard’s new age chart, Enya took top artist honors for the decade, while Ottmar Liebert was eighth. Enya’s A Day Without Rain was the No. 1 CD.
