Seminal Contemporary jazz ensemble Special EFX is well into their third decade crafting memorable songs and timeless recordings, have signed with Trippin ‘N’ Rhythm Records. A reuniting with label executive Jeff Lunt who worked with the band on a number of now classic recordings in the early 90’s, Special EFX takes a directional turn on this their 31st release. Leader Chieli Minucci and friends venture down a new path with a tweaked sound, and the addition of some fresh young faces. Special EFX “Deep As The Night” is scheduled to be released in Spring 2017. - James Corden To Host Grammy Awards
Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow announced in a statement, "Thanks to 'Carpool Karaoke,' we’ve all been on some incredible rides with James, and The Recording Academy couldn’t be more excited to welcome his passion and enthusiasm for music, both as an entertainer and a fan, to the Grammy stage on February 12," he said. "He’s got big shoes to fill after the magnificent run we had with LL Cool J, but James Corden is a commanding, dynamic showman who, we believe, is perfect to host the Grammy Awards."
The Recording Academy and Meghan Trainor, Best New Artist GRAMMY winner for 2015, will kick off the announcement of 59th GRAMMY Awards nominations by revealing nominees in the four General Field categories (Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best New Artist) live on "CBS This Morning" on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 8:30 a.m. ET. Immediately following, at 8:45 a.m. ET, The Recording Academy will announce nominations across all 84 categories at GRAMMY.com.
- Smokey Robinson Awarded Gershwin Prize
Smokey Robinson recently received the Library of Congress' Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, joining prior-winners Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel. The Gershwin Prize recognizes work that has a “significant and uplifting influence on the world of music and on our society as a whole.” The Library of Congress honored Robinson with an all-star tribute concert at DAR Constitution Hall. Hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, the concert is scheduled to air on PBS in February.
The Washington Post reports that numer ous artists performed including Jazz artist Esperanza Spalding, country artist Kip Moore, gospel legend BeBe Winans, and Corinne Bailey Rae.
- Nathan East Announces New Album 'Reverence'
GRAMMY-nominated bassist Nathan East's forthcoming album 'Reverence' will be released on January 20, 2017 via Yamaha Entertainment Group.
With a discography that includes Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven," Michael Jackson's "Bad," and Randy Newman's "I Love L.A.," 'Reverence,' produced by Yamaha Entertainment Group Founder Chris Gero, is the follow up to East's 2014 eponymous debut as a solo artist.
As a founding member of renowned contemporary jazz quartet Fourplay, Nathan East is one of the world's most recorded session bassists. With over 2,000 album credits to his name and several GRAMMY-winning songs including "Get Lucky," "Footloose" and "Change the World," East has performed with artists including Daft Punk, Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston & Beyonce. He received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for his self-titled solo debut 'Nathan East' on March 2014 which hit #1 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Albums chart.

- Michael Buble Confirms Son's Illness
Singer Michael Bublé and wife Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato are putting their family first after revealing their 3-year-old son is battling cancer. Michael recently announced his son Noah's illness on his Facebook page:
“We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US. We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children. Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well. At this difficult time, we ask only for your prayers and respect for our privacy. We have a long journey in front of us and hope that with the support of family, friends and fans around the world, we will win this battle, God willing.”
Michael had recently been promoting his new album "Nobody But Me" which was released a few weeks ago.
