Aretha to Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy with Free Concert

The Kennedy Center and Georgetown University will host a musical celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy in a free event featuring Aretha Franklin.
Let Freedom Ring! is being sponsored by the performing arts center and Georgetown University. The concert will take place on January 19th, which is Martin Luther King Day.
The program is part of the free daily performance series offered on the Millennium Stage. Since 2003, the program has featured Kennedy Center honorees and popular entertainers. Aretha Franklin was an honoree in 1994.
The event will also include performances by violin duo Nuttin’ But Stringz and Georgetown University’s Let Freedom Ring Choir. Tickets for the free event will be available at the concert hall on the day of the show. Tickets will be distributed one per person in line.
The Queen of Soul was recently dubbed the greatest singer of all time by her peers in a poll conducted by Rolling Stone, she has also released her first full-length Christmas album, This Christmas, which is an expressive collection of commanding gospel numbers and up-tempo traditional carols.
