It’s That Girl Again, Basia Returns with New Album

Poland-native Basia is re-emerging with what is being considered her strongest work to date, her new album, It’s That Girl Again, which is scheduled for release on March 24th.

The album highlights Basia’s trademark global pop/jazz sound and from the first track to the last, even though she has not released an album since 1997, it’s as though she has never been away.

Basia and her collaborator Danny White have always drawn from timeless influences: the rhythms and styles of Latin music, the sound of classic American soul and R&B, and the polish of ’50s and ’60s jazz; yet their sound is always undeniably fresh.

Nothing about their collaboration is stuck in the past, rather it presses forward, and with this release, they build even further upon their many accomplishments that have transpired during the course of their career.

Basia was introduced to the music world as a vocalist who proved herself unique, defying categories and appealing to a wide audience. Her versatility earned her two consecutive number one Billboard Contemporary Jazz albums.

The songs that make up It’s That Girl Again reprise Basia’s global pop sound, fusing memorable melodies with complex arrangements that don’t overshadow the lyrics or the instrumentation. The musical backing is inspired and inventive and each song is a dedication to someone in Basia’s life, though her narratives describe characters many can relate to.

Joining Basia and Danny is a tight band of accomplished musicians including guitarist Peter White, trumpeter Kevin Robinson (Simply Red, Incognito) and drummer Marc Parnell (Joan Armatrading, Damian Rice).
