Motown's Berry Gordy will be honored at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala being held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on June 13.  Berry will receive the Pioneer Award at the 44th annual induction ceremony.  The award was introduced last year to "honor people who have been a major influence on generations of songwriters," according to the Associated Press.  As the founder of Motown Records, Gordy helped launch the careers of artists like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and The Supremes, The Jackson Five and Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, among many others.  Berry is currently working on his Broadway show, Motown: The Musical which began previews on Monday, March 11 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
