Earl Klugh's Big Day

News

Happy birthday to Earl Klugh who celebrates today! (Sept. 16)  Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan Earl began studying the piano at three and then picked up the guitar at 10.  At age 13, he vividly remembers watching Chet Atkins on the Perry Como Variety Show and credits that performance with defining his passion and love for the guitar.  By the time he was 17 he was playing in the local jazz clubs in Detroit and found a supporter in George Benson, with whom he toured for a year.  Benson went on to help Earl sign his first record deal.  He's been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards, winning the award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for his work with Bob James on One On One.  He'll be hosting his 2nd Annual Weekend of Jazz at the Kiawah Island Resort in South Carolina, November 10-12.  Klugh will celebrate his birthday with a performance tonight in Charlotte, NC where he's sure to be playing some favorites from his latest CD, The Spice Of Life.
