Earth, Wind & Fire 'Now, Then & Forever' due Sept. 10

Aug 14 2013

Earth, Wind & Fire will release their first studio album of all new material in eight years entitled Now, Then & Forever via Legacy Recordings on September 10, 2013.  "The Now, Then & Forever album is really about the legacy of Earth, Wind & Fire," said co-founder Philip Bailey.  He tells Billboard the album evolved over a two-year period and hinged on one song, "Guiding Lights," co-written by his son, Philip D. Bailey.  Bailey shares, "When we got finished with that song someone mentioned to me that it sounded like a great Earth, Wind & Fire that people had missed all these years. Then I started listening to the music we had done to that point, and the "Guiding Lights" song made me re-think the music we had and I said, 'We've got to go back to the drawing board to make these other songs more classic sounding' and just changed the whole course of the album."  The album is the first without founding member Maurice White who was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1994, but Bailey says White remains a "guiding force" in everything that EWF does.  EWF will kick-off a US tour in support of the album in Las Vegas on August 30 and dates are available here.
