News

Birthday wishes to Grammy Award winning singer Al Jarreau who celebrates today (March 12).  Jarreau was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and began singing when he was four.  He performed in college with a local band called The Indigos while he studied psychology.  Al eventually landed in San Francisco to launch his career in rehabilitation counseling, but found himself performing on the weekends with the George Duke Trio and decided to make music his life's work.  His debut album, We Got By, was released in 1975 and was followed by Look to the Rainbow in 1977, which earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance.  In 2006 Al teamed up with guitar legend George Benson on their Grammy winning album Givin' It Up.  Al continues to tour extensively worldwide, with his sextet and Symphony shows, and is currently in studio working on a new album.
