Happy Birthday, Bobby Caldwell

Birthday wishes today to singer Bobby Caldwell [Aug. 15].  Born in New York City, his parents hosted one of the early TV variety shows.  Soaking up the city's musical influences, Caldwell soon took up piano and guitar and formed his own band at 17.  He may be known for his smooth "crooning" style, but one of his earliest gigs was playing Jimi Hendrix and Cream covers in a rock band! Since those days, his vocal tastes have evolved, with his trademark tune "What You Won't Do for Love," becoming a staple on contemporary jazz radio.  Caldwell currently lives on a New Jersey horse farm with his family, and continues to keep up a steady stream of live dates.
