Happy Birthday Boz Scaggs |
| Jun 08 2012 |

Birthday wishes to guitarist and singer-songwriter Boz Scaggs who celebrates today (June 8). He was born William Royce Scaggs in Canton, Ohio, the son of a traveling salesman. A schoolmate gave him the nickname 'Bosley' while he attended St. Mark's school in Dallas, Texas and it was later shortened to 'Boz'. Scaggs began playing the guitar when he was 12 and met Steve Miller while the two where in school together at St. Mark's. Boz went on to sing with Steve's first band, The Marksmen, and they continued to collaborate throughout college. Boz appeared on the first two albums by the Steve Miller Band before going solo. In 1976 he released his breakthrough album Silk Degrees which contained his biggest hits "Lowdown" and "Lido Shuffle." When Scaggs isn't working on his music he's found growing grapes in Napa Valley, CA where he and his wife Dominique, own a winery. Boz will be on tour with Donald Fagen and Michael McDonald for their Dukes of September Rhythm Revue shows this summer.
