Happy Birthday Carlos Santana

Best wishes to Grammy winning guitarist, Carlos Santana who celebrates his 65th birthday today (July 20).  Born in Mexico, he began playing the violin when he was five and the guitar when he was eight.  He moved to San Francisco with his family in the early 1960's where he finished out middle school and high school.  Carlos got his big break when he was invited to join an impromtu band put together by legendary promoter Bill Graham at the Fillmore West.  He's known for his hits "Evil Ways," "Oye Como Va," and the chart topping "Smooth" featuring Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 on vocals.  In 2009 Carlos was awarded Billboard's Latin Music Lifetime Achievement Award.  Santana just released his latest album Shape Shifter in May of this year and is currently on tour, performing tonight for his birthday in Atlantic City, NJ and teaming up with the Allman Brothers Band for shows next week on the East Coast.
