Birthday wishes to guitarist Earl Klugh who celebrates his 60th birthday today (September 16).  The Grammy Award winner was born in Detroit, Michigan and became interested in the guitar when he was 13, after watching Chet Atkins perform on TV with Perry Como.  Earl's first recording was at age 15 on Yusef Lateef's Suite 16 and two years later he joined George Benson's band playing on his album White Rabbit.  Earl's latest release is a self-produced solo album entitled Hand Picked featuring special guests Bill Frisell, Vince Gill, and Jake Shimabukuro, among others.  Klugh offers a diverse set of songs for the project including his duet with Jake Shimabukuro on "Hotel California" and "Blue Moon" with Bill Frisell.  Earl is performing in California in October including a stop at the Catalina Jazz Festival and the Smooth Jazz Cruise West Coast departing from San Diego.  He'll host his 4th Annual Weekend of Jazz at Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, SC in November.  Check out a full list of his tour dates here.
