Happy Birthday Kenny G

Birthday wishes to saxophonist Kenny G who is celebrating today (June 5).  Born Kenneth Bruce Gorelick in Seattle, WA, he began playing the saxophone when he was ten.  Kenny started his career performing in Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra while he was still in high school and later joined the Jeff Lorber Fusion band.  His first solo album, Kenny G, was released in 1982 but his major breakthrough came in 1986 with Duotones, which included his hit "Songbird."  His sixth studio album, Breathless, became the number one selling instrumental album of all time with over 15 million copies sold around the world.  Kenny will release a new album on June 26 called Namaste, featuring India's premiere santoor player Rahul Sharma.  You can pre-order the CD here: www.smoothjazznetwork.com/kennyandsandy/.
