Kenny G releases 'Namaste' Today |
| Jun 26 2012 |

Kenny G, the top selling instrumental musician of our time, is releasing his latest album, Namaste, today (June 26). The project is a collaboration between the multiple Grammy-winning saxophonist and Rahul Sharma - a native of India's Kashmir region and third-generation master of the 100-string santoor. The idea for the album was born when Kenny was performing in Mumbai several years ago and Rahul came backstage to introduce himself and share some of his CD's with Kenny. The artists exchanged music files via the internet and the result was Namaste India, released in 2011. For the the new version of the album, available on Concord Records, several of the tracks were remixed to add a chill ambiance courtesy of mixer/producer Kid Tricky, also known as Marc Burrows, of the UK dance music group Bimbo Jones. Kenny says of the album, "I think the most important thing to come out of this project is the idea that two musicians from very different backgrounds with two very different instruments can find common ground and really make something innovative and interesting in the process. We each just spoke our own languages to each other, and in the process we developed a language of our own. In the end, we figured out how to make something very intriguing and beautiful."
