Mariah Carey Signs with 'American Idol'

After weeks of speculation, Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly announced today that Mariah Carey is joining American Idol for Season 12, debuting in January 2013.  The pop superstar fills one of two vacant spots on the judging panel due to the departure of both Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.  Carey is also busy putting the final touches on her forthcoming album due out later this year.  She announced she'll release the first single from the project entitled "Triumphant" in early August.
