Marvin Gaye Biopic Filming in Europe

Apr 29 2013

The Julien Temple directed Marvin Gaye biopic, starring Jesse L. Martin is currently filming in Luxembourg and Belgium. The controversial, as-yet-untitled project will be represented by Focus Features International who will be presenting the film at the Cannes Film Festival next month, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Martin replaced Lenny Kravitz in the role of Gaye, while the film also features Golden Globe nominee Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges, Troy) in the role of Freddy Cousaert, Vicky Krieps (Hanna) as Eugenie and Dwight Henry (Beasts of the Southern Wild) as the singer’s father.  The film will focus on Gaye’s life during his "European exile," highlighting an 18-month period when he lived in Belgium with his friend and promoter Cousaert.  It was during this period that Gaye staged his comeback with his Grammy winning album Midnight Love, which spawned the chart topping hit "Sexual Healing" in 1982.
