Michael Lington Celebrates Big Day

Birthday wishes to Danish saxophonist, Michael Lington who celebrates today (June 11).  Michael was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and is the grandson of Danish jazz pioneer and composer Otto Lington.  He made the move to Los Angeles when he was 21, getting his start in Bobby Caldwell's band and later touring with R&B singer Randy Crawford for three years.  For the past several years he's been on tour with Michael Bolton and is also out playing solo in support of his latest album Pure, released February 14, 2012 on Trippin' N' Rhythm.  Michael got some help on the new project from a diverse group of artists including Lee Ritenour, Paul Jackson, Jr., Rickey Minor and The Tonight Show Band, Jeff Golub, Brian Culbertson and Jonathan Butler.  Lington is scheduled to perform with Michael Bolton tonight at the Howard Theater in Washington, DC.  His full schedule is available here:www.michaellington.com/.
