Simply Red frontman, Mick Hucknall will release his latest solo effort, American Soul on October 29 via Razor & Tie.  It's no secret Mick loves soul classics having covered songs like "If You Don’t Know Me By Now" by Harold Melvin and The Bluenotes and The Stylistics hit "You Make Me Feel Brand New."  He shares, "I was brought up on American soul and have such a deep appreciation for the music.  I’ve been listening to most of these songs since I was 5 or 6 years old but it took working with Ron Wood and the Faces and with Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman’s bands to make me remember how much I love singing these old-school soul and R&B songs. Those guys certainly played a part in inspiring me to make this album.”  American Soul features unique covers of Hucknall’s favorite American soul music of the late 50’s and early 60’s, including tracks by Otis Redding, Etta James, Ray Charles and many more.  The first single from the album is Mick's take on the Aaron Neville hit "Tell It Like It Is," written by George Davis and Lee Diamond.  Mick is scheduled to join Van Morrison for a special All-Star Tribute to blues and soul legend Bobby Bland at BluesFest 2013 on November 1, 2013 at the Royal Albert Hall.
