Mick Hucknall to release 'American Soul' October 29
|Aug 28 2012|
Simply Red frontman, Mick Hucknall will release his latest solo effort, American Soul on October 29. The album’s first single will be Mick's take on the 1964 O.V. Wright hit, “That’s How Strong My Love Is.” It's no secret Mick loves soul classics having covered songs like "If You Don’t Know Me By Now" by Harold Melvin and The Bluenotes and The Stylistics hit "You Make Me Feel Brand New." According to his website, "his solo career has given him free rein to record, together on one album, his favourites from his own personal journey through the American soul genre, giving an insight into the music that has inspired him throughout his life." Hucknall says his interest in this music started while he was working with Ronnie Wood and the Faces, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman. It helped him realized how much he loved singing old school R&B songs and played a part in inspiring the making of this album. Mick will be performing an intimate rehearsal/preview show of American Soul in London's Kings Cross on September 8 and plans a UK tour in April 2013.
