Songwriter Nick Ashford Dies

Nick Ashford, one half of powerhouse songwriting duo Ashford and Simpson, has passed away in a New York City hospital, after a long battle with throat cancer.  He was 70.  Ashford and his wife, Valerie Simpson, wrote hits for Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Chaka Khan and more.  Among their classic songs, "Aint No Mountain High Enough," "I'm Every Woman" and "You're All I Need to Get By."  The duo also had a hit of their own with "Solid As A Rock."  Besides Simpson, Ashford is survived by their 2 daughters.
